About Us

The Newspaper:

The Oquirrh Times is an combined newspaper. It’s the West Valley News – which covered West Valley City, Utah, the Magna Times – which covered Magna, Utah and the Kearns Post, which covered Kearns, Utah. Our first issue was published August 12, 2010, but the three original newspapers, The West Valley News,  the Magna Times and Kearns Post have been printed and published for many decades, especially the Magna Times.

It’s hard to say when the Magna Times  got started, but according to the volume number of this year’s edition, it’s been 103 years – everyone thinks the paper was started around 1906, but nobody is exactly sure.  Now, the newspaper is called “The Oquirrh Times – The Magna Times, West Valley News and Kearns Post combined”.

Our editor, Howard Stahle, was almost born in the press room.  Together with his wife Bonnie, they own, and have owned, these newspapers and many others, for many decades. Howard was also president of the Utah Press Association in 1972.
