Cyprus High PTSA is pleased to once again sponsor Grad Nite for the students of Cyprus High School. This year’s celebration will be held May 31, 2012 from 8:30pm –2:00am at Cyprus High School. The event is open to the entire student body (must be a student as of May 31). Students must arrive by 10:00pm and stay until 2:00am unless parents give permission to leave early. (Verified via a phone call.) Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door. Advance tickets will be sold through May 30th at the school bookstore.
The night will be filled with entertainment and fun, beginning with an opening act featuring Cyprus High’s Battle-of-the-Band winner, Zypher. Cyprus Improvables and Dance Company will also perform. Venues include: Laser Tag, Mechanical Bull, Open Pool with Diving for Dollars, Giant Slide, Obstacle Course, Bungee Run, Caricature Artists, Photo Shoot, Kinect, Rock Band, Karaoke, Rock Wall, Table Pool, Foosball, Ping Pong, and a Scavenger Hunt. Food and drinks will be served, and the night will be wrapped up with a farewell presentation by the Student Body Officers.
Grad Nite has become a Cyprus High tradition over the past decade. Not only does it provide a safe and supervised venue for students to celebrate the end of the year, but it also offers leadership development opportunities to members of the PTSA Junior Board. These students, under the direction of the PTSA Executive Board, plan the activities, recruit volunteers, book vendors, solicit door prizes, and promote the event. The insight these students bring is invaluable, as they often think outside of the box and bring refreshingly new ideas to the table.
Because of generous sponsorships from community businesses, discounted rates by event vendors, and a significant grant from the Salt Lake County Substance Abuse Services, ticket prices are held to a reasonable amount in the hopes that any student who would like to attend can afford to do so. Cyprus High administrators, security officers, and custodial staff also contribute their services at no cost to the committee. Magna’s community spirit is epitomized during Grad Nite by parents who are willing to lose a night’s sleep in order to make this “final hurrah” as safe and fun as possible for our students.
Door Prize donations and adult volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated. If you can help, please contact Sandy Lancaster at 801-413-9142.
