Annual Spaghetti Dinner brings thousands to Historic Magna Parish

As the aromatic smells of herbs begin wafting through Historic Magna Main Street, one might conclude that a new Italian restaurant has opened.

Parishioners cook for days to feed thousands of attendees at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Magna, UT.

But, as you follow the tantalizing smells to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish at 9000 West 2840 South, you begin to realize that what you are experiencing is beyond your expectation.

This year’s all-you-can-eat (dine-in only) dinner will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Take outs are also available.

Cost of the meal is $11 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under. A basket raffle will also be held.

Laughter and conversation call you to the small Catholic church where parishioners are busily preparing vats of homemade marinara sauce to drench the famous Colosimo’s “Sauselettes” atop plates of steaming hot pasta for awaiting hungry dinner goers. Friends you haven’t yet met, great you as if you just arrived at a big Italian family function. Plates buzz by and at that moment you realize, this is something extraordinary.

“It’s more than a fund raiser for the church; it’s an event that really brings a community together to celebrate friendship and family,” said Brad Bailey, Chairman of this year’s event.

“It’s a time when we can sit down over a meal, catch up, meet new people; it’s an event that inspires a real coming together and making of new friends,” commented one of the dinner’s organizers.

“I feel a sense of Magna’s tradition when I attend the Annual Spaghetti Dinner,” said Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon.” “My family and I look forward to this event each year.”
